As a write this I am 51 and half years young ! My friend Gerry Hussey has taught me that based on the current life expectancy of 78 years for the average male then I have just a little over 300 months left on this planet. Now, I just want to clarify I want and intend to live vibrantly and healthily all the way to 100 but it’s a very sobering thought to think how little time I may left to live out and enjoy my life.
The large majority of people live out their lives in what I would describe as quiet desperation. They start out their careers as young, energetic, optimistic and idealistic go getters. However, bit by bit life, as we know it, begins to knock them back. They experience a few setbacks along their journey, in their career or in relationships or with their health and wellbeing, which sucks the drive and self belief out of them. They then start to gradually settle for a more mediocre life, staying within their comfort zone, and never breaking out of that shell to experience what I call ‘ the juice of life ‘ They know deep down that they should make changes for the better but they feel stuck and weak and unable to get off the monotonous and ultimately depressing treadmill of just existing day by day, week by week, year by year and so on . They live according to subconscious repetitive patterns and automated habits and the discomfort that they would have to go through to break free from what they know, is too much to handle. I can relate to what that feels like. The feeling of a permanent knot in my stomach, knowing I was not happy. As I could see my conservative and predictable banking career unfold in front of me, I knew I had to get away from that predetermined finish line in life. If any of you feels that way about any aspect of your life right now, I urge you to be brave and take the plunge in to what Dr Joe Dispenza describes as the river of change. We all need the excitement of new challenges and experiences on a regular basis to keep “ the juice of life “ flowing.
Not everything may work out exactly the way you want but wouldn’t life be terribly boring if we knew the end result of all our life in advance ? It is the “not knowing” that makes life exhilarating. It makes the success you will achieve and the happiness you will experience all the sweeter in the end
