The majority of people believe in the concept of luck. Some think they are destined to experience only bad luck and others seem to get lucky all the time. Why is that ? Did you ever notice the language coming from an “unlucky” person. You will often hear them say things like “not much point in me buying a lottery ticket, I never win anything “ or “ knowing my luck there won’t be any car spaces left when I arrive “ etc etc . Those with that negative mindset are usually right in that they tend to get the type of luck that they are expecting. Then on the opposite side you have the more upbeat and positive minded person who seems to get lucky all the time. I am definitely in the latter category. I have been lucky all my life. Yes, I certainly have had a few knock backs but nothing that I could not overcome and in every case I can look back and see that it was an opportunity for change and personal growth, So what, makes you or me a lucky or unlucky person ? I believe that it is directly related to the level of expectation you carry around in your mind every day. If you want to be lucky then expect good things to come your way. Right now you may be experiencing a tough time. You may be experiencing financial and career or business uncertainty due to the Covid 19 crisis or you could have health or relationship problems. No matter what your current problems or crisis is, you can always adopt the mind frame that this is happening to you for a good reason. It may be challenging for you to see it that way right now but bad luck can often turn in to good luck in the long run. Losing your job is unlucky, but getting the opportunity to try a career change can often be the best thing for your future. Being forced to drastically cut back or shut down your business operations right now may seem very unfortunate but with the right attitude, you could end up with a much better business model once you recover that will see you through any uncertainty in the years ahead. Having to endure and overcome a serious illness gives you the opportunity for perfect health from now on. Going through a relationship break up provides you with the chance to meet your ideal partner when the time is right. I believe that, in general, we all make our own luck because of the attitude we hold and the actions we take. Bob Proctor taught me to “ Forget about luck “ in that a person’s fortune or misfortune are a direct result of the Natural Laws of the Universe in action. We should always expect good things to happen to us and our thoughts, feelings and behaviours need to be aligned with that mindset to attract good fortune in to our lives.
When I got that lucky first phone call in my new business after 30 long days sitting at my desk in my office, somehow in the back of mind I had expected something like that to happen. I could not say when it would happen or where my good luck would come from but every thing I had done up to that point in setting up my new business was preparing me for it. I may not have been acutely aware of it at the time but I was making my own good luck. I was putting myself out there, I was setting myself up for success and I was waiting patiently for it to come in to my life. For anything that you may want in life, adopt the same mentality, work hard toward your goals and dreams and allow yourself to be lucky on that journey.
